Quest Medical, Inc. was founded in 1979 with the idea of producing a better volumetric infusion pump. This concept was made a reality with the design and production of two series of infusion pumps and associated IV sets. In 1991, Quest purchased Heathdyne and American Omni which brought Quest into the perfusion safety product market. It was the strong relationship Quest developed with perfusionists that was the genesis for the Myocardial Protection System (MPS®) development. The 1st generation MPS was released in 1996. The second generation MPS 2 was released into the market in 2004. In Q4 of 2018 Quest released in Canada, the most advanced MPS yet – the MPS 3. The US market release of the MPS 3 is expected to be in 2020.
The TEMED Gas Diffuser is a single patient use disposable surgical device for the effective insufflation of carbon dioxide (CO₂ ) into an open surgical wound. The TEMED Gas Diffuser is intended for use by cardiovascular surgeons in open heart surgery procedures for the insufflation of carbon dioxide gas into the thoracic cavity to reduce the risk of air embolism which can result in organ damage. It aims to reduce the risk of air embolism by increasing the level of CO₂ in the local atmosphere.

The company has developed the Caretaker wearable wireless vital signs monitoring system that sets a new standard in portability, simplicity, and medical-grade wearable monitoring devices. Using a small, comfortable finger cuff, CareTaker accurately measures continuous non-invasive beat-by-beat Blood Pressure (“cNIBP”), ECG-Accurate Heart Rate, and Respiration Rate, as well as Blood Volume (for hemorrhage detection), Arterial Stiffness, and other hemodynamic parameters.
Traditional methods require hemostat and scissors to break the cuff free from the fibrous tissue from the ‘ingrown’ catheter cuff. The procedure typically takes 10-15 minutes on average.
The X-TRK system breaks the cuff free from the fibrous tissue on the ingrown cuff effectively and efficiently. With the X-TRK system, the procedure takes up to 15 seconds, not minutes, from insertion to the exit hole to catheter removal.

GENERAL/ROBOTICS/MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY (MIS) MARKETS
I.C. Medical manufactures the advanced Crystal Vision® surgical smoke evacuation and filtration system, the Telescopic PenEvac® electrocautery pencil, surgical smoke evacuation filters and sensors, and other surgical smoke evacuation system accessories. For over 30 years, they have pioneered surgical smoke evacuation research and development.
The growth of minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic procedures has made it harder for surgeons to find lost needles, broken instruments, and other types of sharps and fragments. Because retained objects can cause serious harm to patients, surgeons always go to great lengths to ensure all tools are accounted for.
Robotic surgeons, Dr. Sam Weprin and Dr. Dan Eun, set out to solve this problem. With the help of biomedical engineering professor, Dr. John Noel, they invented the Melzi Sharps Finder that works on open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries.
WOUND CARE
Kerecis was established in 2009 as a research project based in Isafjordur, Iceland. Their Omega3 products are intact fish skin, rich in naturally occurring Omega3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. When grafted onto damaged human tissue such as a burn or a diabetic wound, the material recruits the body’s own cells and is ultimately converted into living tissue.
ActiGraft, based on RedDress’ proprietary patented technology, is a FDA-cleared wound care solution that enables health care providers to produce—in real time—in vitro blood clot tissue from a patient’s whole blood. Once applied, the blood clot tissue serves as a protective covering and supports wound healing processes which naturally occur in the patient’s body.
MIRRAGEN® Advanced Wound Matrix is a next-generation intervention for wound management. Supports wound healing, reduces costs using synthetic, absorbable bioactive glass fiber technology. Safe and easy to use.
